Good article about shoestring movie making.

http://io9.com/5509039/making-a-science-fiction-movie-on-a-shoestring-where-can-you-cut-corners

Good article, though I disagree on two things. Lighting is glossed over a bit, and I have found that reflectors or even small lights have been needed for nearly every shot. For example during an outside shot, I had to block sunlight to keep from blinding the actress. So, since her light was blocked, I had to reflect light (from a different angle) to compensate. You almost always need lighting adjustment somehow.

And, sound. Just find a $50.00 shotgun mic at least. This is very important. Sound is one of the most ignored aspects of these kinds of shoots.

Building my demo reel.

Portfolios with company logos seem to attract video jobs.

Clients are shown a demo reel with pepsi, ford, CNN or something of that caliber and whip out the checkbooks.
At, least, that is my experience. Unfortunately, I was not the one with the corporate logo on my vid.

How can one produce videos with corporate clients logos? Through contests.
When one enters a contest for a big brand, they supply your use of their logo. Some
supply music as well.

So, in the end, I get a video with a company logo, and maybe even a winning
video.

For example, here is my latest:

This video was entered into a contest for G.E.
And, now, I have a vid with a corporate logo for my demo reel.
